چکیده

The effects of left axis shift (> -30°) on intraventricular conduction time (IVCT) were studied in 63 subjects in whom electrocardiograms before and after appearance of the left axis shift were available. Subjects with electrocardiographic evidence of left or right ventricular hypertrophy, left or right bundle branch block, myocardial infarction, pre-excitation and those receiving antiarrthythmic drugs were excluded. The IVCT increased by an average of 25 msec when the QRS axis

Prognostic significance of isolated left anterior hemiblock and left axis deviation in the course of acute myocardial infarction.

In 700 patients with acute myocardial infarction admitted to the intensive coronary care unit of our hospital, the incidence and significance of left anterior hemiblock and left axis deviation has been studied in the acute phase of disease. In 102 (14.6%) of the 700 patients, isolated left axis deviation (mean QRS axis-45 degrees) was found and 69 of them (9.9%) met the criteria of left anterio...

Left axis deviation: a reassessment.

This report deals with the ramifications of the concept of left axis deviation. In early life, the leftward shift of the frontal plane QRS axis is determined chiefly, if not solely, by the relative weights of the ventricles. Once adult ventricular weight ratios are reached, there is a long period of axis stability, then a gradual leftward drift of the QRS, governed principally by left anterior ...

Pseudo left axis deviation and the S1S2S3 syndrome in chronic airway obstruction.

Pseudo left axis deviation (not true left axis deviation and the S1S2S3 syndrome are infrequently reported electrocardiographic findings in chronic airway obstruction. One hundred fifty-eight patients with severe chronic airway obstruction documented by pulmonary function testing were evaluated for these electrocardiographic findings. Pseudo left axis deviation was found in 23 patients (15 perc...

The electrocardiogram in congenital heart disease; with special reference to left axis deviation.

The incidence of the four main types of axis deviation in each diagnostic group of congenital malformations of the heart was found by an examination of 2,752 electrocardiograms from the Harriet Lane Home Cardiac Clinic. Records from patients with dextrocardia or dextrarotation of the heart, and those with complete bundle branch block were excluded. The precordial and unipolar limb leads in the ...

An association between left axis deviation and an aneurysmal defect in children with a perimembranous ventricular septal defect.

Conspicuous left axis deviation was found in two thirds (27 patients) of 44 children with a perimembranous ventricular septal defect, echocardiographic signs of apposition of the septal tricuspid valve leaflet, and an aneurysm of the membranous septum. In 10 patients earlier electrocardiograms did not show left axis deviation; this feature appeared when the aneurysm of the membranous septum was...

The Meaning of Axis Deviation in Insurance Medicine

Throughout the history of electrocardiography there has always been keen interest in the concept of electrical axis and in the deviations from the normal axis. The mean electrical axis of the QRS has been the prime concern and is usually quoted as part of every ECG interpretation. The axis of the P wave is used only in rhythm analysis. The frontal plane electrical axis of the QRS indicates the ...
